Do you enjoy funny license plates?January 25

If you have ever been driving down the road you may have noticed that many people enjoy funny license plates. It is fun to see what people have as license plates because it really tells you alot about their personality. As long as you can fit the characters into your license plate and of course it isnt offensive you can use whatever funny license plate you would like to use. Whenever I read a license plate that is more than the ordinary numbers and letters I always get a good chuckle out of it. Most of all I always like to look at the people inside of the car to see if I would expect this funny license plate to match their personality. I myself do not have a funny license plate but have thought of ideas in the past, like most people probably have. Most of my ideas would not fit on the plate or probably might be offensive to some. If you are not someone with a funny license plate you must wonder like I do how long this process of coming up with an idea that works must seem to take. Then there is always the issue if you come up with something that someone might already have chosen this plate. I think people with funny license plates must be very outgoing and funny people in person. They also probably have more friends than the average because this is just part of their personality and it is something that we can all see even when we are just driving down the road.

Economical Construction - Used Mini ExcavatorJanuary 24

A compact hydraulic excavator or a mini excavator as it is more commonly referred to as a tracked or wheeled construction related machine. The basic model of this machine comes with a back fill blade attached to the boom swing (the arm). While there are different types of excavators suitable for different loads and weight limits, an excavator, which generally handles less than 10000 lbs, is classified as a Used Mini Excavator. The compact sizes of these machines make them popularly used equipment on a construction sites, as they are able to get into those hard-to-reach places that the larger excavators cannot. Therefore, there is used mini excavatorMost of these excavators have three major components to them – the house/booth, undercarriage and the attachment itself (which can vary or be changed depending on the required function). All movements and functions of this machine are controlled through the transfer of hydraulic liquid. Some of the functions that mini excavators are utilized for include trench digging, concrete removal, small excavation projects, grave digging, light demolition work,  tree harvesting, transport and planting, home repair and renovation. Despite being commonplace in most construction sites today, the mini excavator is a new piece of technology that goes back the late 1960s. The origins of this machine in North America are even more recent with its introduction in the early 1980s more than a decade after its introduction in Japan and Europe. Therefore, people worldwide have used mini excavator. The first compact excavator was in fact produced by a Japanese company. While the use of mini excavators was widespread in Japan and Europe, it took a while before this machine was able to gain popularity in the North American construction circles. There were a couple of reasons for its popularity rising in America and both reasons can be attributed to Bobcat Co. This is how the used mini excavator came into being.

Bobcat Co. is a North-Dakota based company specializing today in the manufacturing of compact construction equipment. Back in the day Bobcat’s best selling product was the skid steer loader – a loader machine which was light-weight and easily maneuverable. Towards the end of the 1980s, Bobcat had decided to focus and specialize in the manufacturing of compact equipment. At this time, they recognized that mini excavators were a product that had a good market and so they started production of various models in this category. They also marketed these machines as compacts rather than mini excavators. The second development came when the company decided to package its two machines i.e. the steer skid loader and its compact excavator and them at the same cost of a backhoe loader to their customer base. Their huge backhoe customer base were convinced that the deal was a good one and sales shot up. More and more companies took on the Bobcat approach and this trend spilled over into the equipment rental market as well.

Japan and Europe’s demand for these mini excavators even today is far higher than America’s. A lot of that is also to do with Bobcat being the only manufacturer of these machines which is headquartered on American soil while the rest manufacture abroad

Things to Look for in a Used BackhoeJanuary 24

There are a lot of people who are now trying to save a little bit of money and are choosing to look for used equipment versus brand new equipment. This works extremely well especially for non production machines that are needed a few times during the day and do not have many hours that are put on them in a years time. A backhoe is usually one of these pieces of equipment. A backhoe is usually on a job site and is needed a few times a day to do various tasks but it is not used ten hours a day all the time for one repetitive task. This is why purchasing Used Backhoes is a good option for a lot of people. They know they need the machine, but they do not need a machine that is new and in tip top shape because they do not seem to wear the machine out very quickly. If you are in the market for a used backhoe, there are some things that need to be thought of before making your purchase. One of those things to look for in a used machine are the hours. Just like when purchasing a used car, you look at the hours. Before you look at a used piece of equipment, it is a good idea to know who many hours per year you plan on putting on the machine as well as what hour range you want your used backhoe to be in. The hours will also determine the price of the machine. Lower hours have higher prices and higher hours have lower prices. There is usually a sweet spot where the hours are not too high and the price is just right. However, if you do not put very many hours on your machine, then you can probably afford to go a little higher on the hours than someone who puts more hours on per year.Another thing to think about are some of the options that are on the machine. These options are things that will dramatically affect the productivity of the machine in your specific application. For example, will you need an enclosed cab or a canopy machine? What about a coupler on the front loader so you can change out tools? Even further, what about a coupler on the back end of the machine so you can put tools like hammers, augers, and different sized buckets on easily? What sort of hydraulic options do you want the machine to have on the front end and back end? These are just a few more things to consider when looking for a backhoe.

Used BMWJanuary 23

If, like me, your car driving experience is limited to a couple of small-engined hatchbacks, the idea of driving a car like a big BMW saloon can seem extremely desirable, but perhaps a little bit scary. When it came time for me to choose a new car, I had my heart set on a Used BMW 3 Series, as I had heard from many reliable sources that this would be an excellent introduction to saloon driving. After finding a suitable model, I decided to take it for a test drive, which didn’t go as smoothly as I would have hoped for.

The most obvious difference is size. Reversing my old VW Polo was easy because the back end was pretty much flat, so I knew I could reverse until any objects were pretty much at my rear windscreen. The Used BMW was a little bit different. I couldn’t quite get a grasp on where the tail ended.

The second difference was the obvious extra power. I was used to a 1.4 litre engine in my old car, which was quite peppy in the low gears, but when you tried to get over 60 mph, it tended to struggle. This was most definitely not a problem for the BMW saloon, which sounded like a gentle breeze at around 70 mph.

I liked the Used BMW so much that I think I am going to buy one, but I am just a little bit worried about reversing into stationary objects, or under-estimating the power and flying off the road.

Finding Parts for your Skid Steer LoaderJanuary 22

If you own a construction business or even own forty acres of land the chances are you also own one or more skid steer loaders. These machines have grown widely in popularity for the business owner as well as the private land owner. Some of the things that make this machine so popular is that it is small and compact, which means it can work in some very small areas. Another item that makes this a popular machine is that it is very easy to learn to operate even if you are not familiar with running construction equipment. Either way, once people own a skid machine, they usually find so many ways to use it that they can not remember what they did without it.

If you are using any piece of construction equipment, including a skid steer, you will find that eventually it will need some maintenance parts. What do you do when you have to find Skid Steer Parts? Not to worry as there are plenty of options when looking for parts. One of the first options that is the most convenient is to search and order on the Internet from the comfort of your own home. Sometimes this can be the best option but only if you know exactly what part you need and are sure that it will fit on your machine. Nothing is worse than ordering a part to find that you got the wrong one. Usually if you bought your machine new, it came with a parts book that can help out with identifying the right part you are searching for on the Internet.

If you are looking for common wear parts such as hoses, fittings, bolts, etc you can usually find these at your local mechanics shop. This will be the easiest and cheapest route to getting these wear items replaced. A word of caution in doing this however, is that your replacement part may not be the same quality or standards as the original manufacturers part. Sometimes this matters to people and sometimes it does not.

The obvious place to get skid steer parts is your local equipment manufacturer. There are some massive benefits to getting parts from the dealer. One is that you know the dealer will be able to order and find the exact parts you need. Also, you will be insured that these parts are high quality and meet very high standards. Another thought is that if you have an older machine, the dealer may be the only place that can get parts to fit your machine.

Skid Steer Track LoaderJanuary 22

You may have seen that one of the most popular types of machines for construction work and for the private landowner is a skid steer. This machine gets its popularity because of its compact size, ease of use, and the ability to put thousands of different tools on its front end to make it one of the most versatile machines on the market today. If you have ever ran a skid machine or rented one for a few days, most likely it had four tires on it. These machines were originally developed and named because of the skid of the tires. However, as time and technology has progressed you can now find a Skid Steer Track Loader.

Basically, these machines are the same top of the skid machine, but instead of wheels on the bottom, they have two tracks. These tracks are usually steel that is coated with rubber and depending on the manufacturer it will have rubber components or all steel components that the track will ride on. These machines have taken the construction market by storm because they have increased the number of days per year an operator can run this machine. For example, usually when it was muddy, flooding, snowing, or any other condition that provided soggy underfoot conditions a person with a tired skid machine would have to park it because it would not work very well.

Now that there are machines with tracks, these tracks allow these machines to run very well in soggy underfoot conditions. This has allowed contractors to maintain a lot of productivity even when the weather does not cooperate. These machines also have have very low ground pressure which means that just like a skid machine with tires, you will not tear up recently planted grass, landscaping, or mess up newly laid concrete.

There is one major downside to these machines with tracks. This is the fact that they are much more costly to run if you are running in rocks, steel, and major debris. Tires will always be less expensive to replace than a track and its undercarriage components. It is a good idea to talk with your local equipment dealer to get the pros and cons of going with tires versus going with tracks. He or she will most likely want to talk with you about what your normal underfoot conditions are, how well you usually maintain your equipment, and how many operators are usually running your equipment.
