Car Dealers On The WebJanuary 28

Buying a car, whether new or used, can be a daunting process. There are seemingly endless amounts of car dealers, showrooms and independent sellers and all of them want your business. Recently however, there has arisen a new way of purchasing a vehicle and that is on the World Wide Web. Of course there can be many pitfalls using this method so make sure you do lots of research before you part with any money.

Online car dealers are probably the most popular websites for buying and selling as they generally have a huge database of cars and car parts that are up for sale. Using the search feature will help you to narrow down your search and pick out only the cars that match what you want. Already this is easier than trudging around car dealers on a Saturday, finding nothing that you were looking for.

Once you have found your perfect car don’t jump straight in and buy right away, do some research on it first. Email the dealer with any questions you have that they may not have already answered on the profile. Ask for more pictures if you find that there aren’t enough that show everything you want, and make sure you ask questions about the service history as it is extremely easy to sell a dodgy car over the internet.

When buying a car from both the internet and from a car dealer it is always advisable to get a HPI check, however confident you are with the legitimacy of the vehicle. The HPI check will tell you if the car has any outstanding finance, if it has been stolen, written off or has a mileage discrepancy. This is an extremely useful tool and only costs around £20, which is a small price to pay compared with what you could lose should the car you are buying be dodgy.

Once you have found your perfect vehicle and have put in a bid, try not to get caught up in the excitement of a bidding war right at the end. Just as you would do at a car dealers, set a budget and stick to it! Following these few tips will ensure that you end up with a car you deserve.
