The VW Polo is a supermini car that is manufactured by Volkswagen. Volkswagen launched the fifth generation Polo in March 2009. For the first time in history the VW Polo was declared car of the year in Europe in 2010. The Polo Mk5 was the 10th best selling car in Britain in June 2010, with over 3,000 sales.
The VW Polo Mark V is 36 mm longer and 32 mm wider and sits 13 mm lower to the roadway than the previous generations of Polo. It has a traditional transversely mounted engine with front wheel drive. The suspension system on all models uses a fully independent MacPherson strut front suspension, and a Twist-bean rear suspension. The VW Polo has thorax airbags and has been awarded a five-star Euro NCAP crash impact rating.
Some of the engine specifications are quoted as: 1.2 L, 3 cylinder petrol, 60 PS (44 kW; 59 hp) or 70 PS (51 kW; 69 hp); the 1.2 L TSI engine, turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol, 105 PS (77 kW; 104 hp); the 1.4 L engine, 4 cylinder petrol, 85 PS (63 kW; 84 hp); the 1.6 L TDI engine, turbocharged 4 cylinder common rail diesel, 75 PS (55 kW; 74 hp); The 1.2 L TDI engine, turbocharged 4 cylinder common rail diesel, 75 PS (55 kW; 74 hp); the 1.6 L TDI engine, turbocharged 4 cylinder common rail diesel, 90 PS (66 kW; 89 hp), and the 1.6 L TDI engine, turbocharged 4 cylinder common rail diesel, 105 PS (77 kW; 104 hp). The GTI (1.4 L TSI 180 hp with DSG) and Blue Motion(with1.2 L TDI 3 cylinder engine with 75 bhp) versions of the VW Polo have also been released. In June 2010, Volkswagen presented the 2011 edition of the Cross Polo. The 2011 edition will be available in petrol and three diesel engines.
The new VW Mk5 Polo GTI is powered by VW’s award winning 180 PS (132 kW; 178 hp) 1.4 TSI engine which uses both a supercharger and turbocharger to provide torque throughout the rev range. The average OTR retail cash price is £9,290.00. If a person is going to finance this vehicle, they should expect the typical annual percentage rate APR to be approximately 7.9%.
