Used Volkswagen At The NurburgringMay 3
Last year I decided that I wanted to do something totally different, something daring. Unfortunately I am petrified of heights so anything like jumping out of a plane or a similar activity is out of the question. Then I thought about the sort of hobbies I am currently interested in. This ranged from playing tennis and squash to watching Formula 1 on television. I do like my cars though and have been saving up for a while in order to try and purchase a Porsche (not a new Porsche of course, more like a 10+ year old 911). But this seems like it will be sometime in the future before I get my hands on a Porsche. I currently own a used Volkswagen Golf GTI which I adore. This got me thinking perhaps I could do something with my used Volkswagen Golf. I live near Silverstone and have been on several occasions. The Silverstone racecourse organises day events for you to take your own car on the track. This is quite exciting but I wanted to do something different. So, I decided to organise a week away to the Nurburgring which I have heard is a fantastic circuit to race. It is a dangerous track though with some reports suggesting there are a few fatal accidents per year. The owners and organisers of the Nurburgring though don’t take any responsibility if you crash your car or if it is damaged which is understandable.
So, a few of my mates decided they wanted to come with me which was fantastic news. I then incorporated with into my birthday week which meant it was extra special. As it was the summer it was a great opportunity to camp out there which would also save me and friends some money. We travelled in my used Volkswagen Golf and my friend had a used Volkswagen Polo which was about 3 years old. The trip to Germany went really smoothly which surprised me because usually wherever I have travelled I have experienced many transport services have gone on strike. For example my trip from Zurich to Nice was interesting as the Italian train drivers decided to go on strike when I was carry over 30kg worth of luggage, not fun. The campsite we stayed at was basic but really nice all the same. I did notice that diesel was cheaper on the continent than in the UK but petrol was the same if not more than in Britain.
The Nurburgring was really cool and quite different to the PS2 version I played before going to the circuit. As you might expect at the circuit you can feel the bumps of the track which you don’t expect. It was great though to drive around the track and I would definitely recommend this if you like to race or even if you simply like cars because there are some fantastic sports cars that are driven around this track. My used Volkswagen Golf performed really well and my friend drove her used Volkswagen Polo around the track. It was a great week out.
