Used Ferrari DreamsMay 31
I would love to own a Used Ferrari. I really would! I have been obsessed with cars ever since I can remember, from the days when I was just a tiny little whipper snapper with a collection of tiny metal toy cars that my dad was nice enough to buy me when I was only a couple of years old. In fact, I think I am right in saying that when I was just a baby I had a favourite babygro that I wanted to wear all the time. My mum thinks it was because it was the softest and thus the most comfy, but I think it was because it had tiny little baby sized versions of the Ferrari logo all over it! So, you see, I have been living and breathing automotive stuff since I was born, and the idea that I would want a Ferrari nowadays is suddenly very sensible indeed.
What I actually own is about as far from a Ferrari as you can possible get. I bought it as my first car, and haven’t really had a decent reason to justify upgrading to a newer car model. My little old VW Polo has great fuel economy, drives incredibly well for its age, and is one of those cars that comes from an era where things lasted. Not like all the modern cars that barely last a year before things fall off or break – I have spent so little on the Polo to keep it running that it is almost getting silly! So, you see, I couldn’t really be further from my life long dream of owning an utterly impractical yet undeniably beautiful sports car!
I don’t think I am alone in this. I know so many people who will actually pull up and get out to have a look around if they drive past a used Ferrari dealership. They will press their hands up against the glass of the showroom, and salivate over the Enzos and all those other Ferraris. Then, knowing what their lives are like, they climb back into their functional Volvo estates or convenient hatchbacks, and drive off, generally mumbling under their breath about just how much they would want to own a Ferrari. One day.
Despite knowing that right now it is impractical for me to consider saving all of my hard earned cash and then dropping it all on a shiny red used Ferrari, I do still hold that dream close to my heart. It would just seem such a waste for me to not find one that I want and can afford, one day in the future! I just know that whilst right now isn’t really the right time from any perspective, there will come the day when I find an incredibly bargain in my local dealership, or when I see a beauty ripe for restoration advertised in my local newspaper. When that day comes, I will snap it up, and then I will have finally achieved my life’s ambition!
