When the Triumph Street Triple was introduced, the 675cc was heralded by reviewers as one of the best middleweight bikes around. The hype over any new model can be a little exaggerated, but the Street has since earned the right to that acclaim. Pirating some of the best parts from stable mates like the Speed Triple and Daytona 675, the lightweight rocket proved immediately that it was both capable and fun.
Triumph claims that the bike puts out over 100bhp and gobs of torque that help propel the bike through all six gears with heart-stopping excitement. While this might not be the best bike for touring that is not what it was designed for. Rather, the Triumph Street Triple was meant to provide the rider with a fun and affordable bike that is right at home on both urban and shorter highway trips. With the horsepower and torque provided, this bike will undoubtedly perform well against any and all competitors in the same segment. With a price tag putting it south of $10,000, it is also price competitive with other bikes in the same segment.
Given the tendency of most riders to individualize their rides, there are gobs of both factory and after-market accessories available for the Triumph Street Triple. Alternatives are available for the seat, exhaust, and windscreen to name just a few. A gel seat is a good option for riders who want to spend more time riding and less time resting cramped muscles. Consider adding a tank bag to carry accessories needed for quick on-road repairs or refreshments. Look for after-market suppliers to keep coming out with additional items to enhance both performance and styling as the popularity of the model increases.
The Triumph Street Triple is another example of the tremendous strides taken by the motorcycle manufacturer to improve the quality and reliability of its entire line. Gone are the days of quirky behaviours that required the rider to become somewhat of a mechanical guru. This bike (and the others in the Triumph stable) has distinguished themselves as examples of performance and reliability that some other manufacturers have yet to match.
