Triumph Engineering Co. LTD was the oldest motorcycle manufacturer in Britain when they hit hard economic times in 1983. Luckily John Bloor saw their value and purchased the name and motorcycle manufacturing rights to give Triumph motorcycles a new birth.Triumph motorcycles have had a certain mystic since Marlon Brando and his gang rode them in the movie “The Wild Ones”. Since that time they have been featured in other movies and ridden by many movie stars and other well known people. The Triumph Thunderbird model has a kind of Hollywood magic going for it.
When John Bloor bought Triumph, he took his time reintroducing it to the market. During the 1980s the company secretly worked on new prototype models and engines, then in 1991 Bloor and his team got financing to build a new 10 acre manufacturing facility in Hinckley in Leicester shire England. They built and introduced new models and old classic models updated with new improved engines. The Triumph bike and company were reborn and ready to rock and roll. Putting their modern engineering on retro classic model motorcycles as well as new sleek models was a winning move. Specializing in triple cylinder engines bought them a place in the motorcycle market between American and Japanese 4 cylinder bikes.
