When it comes to medical insurance, the preoccupation about the topic iscost. At the individual, private citizen level, the issue is the cost of thepremium. Premiums are going up, and there isn’t hardly a chance that thistrend will reverse any time soon. A premium amount is the cost to thesubscriber that is typically due from the party every month. If a premiumamount is not paid, coverage will be suspended. Coverage will be suspendedif a premium is not paid, regardless of whether or not any benefits havebeen used. If an individual is getting this coverage through an employer,called employer sponsorship, the onus of getting this premium amount paid ison the employer. And so the premium amount is also a concern to employers.Often, employers have more of a bargaining power to work with than anindividual, for who costs are relatively fixed and static. An employer willbe able to bargain better, the more employees the employer has.For employers, medical insurance quotes are very much a preoccupation aboutthe topic. For some of the largest companies in the world, health benefitsaccount for an increasingly significant percentage of overall input costs tothe firm. For a very popular international, world class coffee shop chainand firm, health and medical benefits account for more of the firm’sallotted costs toward inputs than coffee itself. And yet, employers aresomewhat grid locked into this position of having to offer benefits. Withoutbenefits, an employer is not able to attract the talent it absolutelyrequires to compete in the market place. Although new companies, may not be able to offer medical coverage.
