In some places it seems like Car Dealers have set up shop on every corner. With this many places to choose from, it can be hard to pick a dealer to purchase from. This may be based on the type of car you are looking for, but that isn’t always the case. Often you are just browsing before making a purchase and you can learn a lot about dealers during this process. There are some things you should know before making a purchase though as these items will help to narrow down your choices.
First and foremost, car dealers will often offer incentives to bring you in to their location. This may be something like a financing deal or free maintenance over the lifetime of the car. You may also be offered something completely unrelated to the purchase, such as a plasma TV or video game system. Just because a dealer offers an incentive does not mean they also offer the best price or the best service. You will need to do some research to find this information out.
Look for a dealership that offers the types of cars you are looking for. Many dealers specialize in one brand while other sell a variety of makes. If you have not settled on a brand yet, you may wish to go to a number of car dealers to check out what is offered or you may wish to look for a location that offers more than one brand on the lot. Narrowing down which makes and models you may be interested will be easier if you do some research at home.
Look for the availability of parts and service at the various car dealers. Ask others about their experiences at a particular location or if they can recommend a good place to buy a car. Dealer reviews, written by other consumers, can be of great assistance at this stage. Also, see if a dealer offers amenities such as loaner cars or extended service department hours. This can be very helpful if your vehicle needs work for any reason. Although these may not seem like big things at the time of purchase, you will find that they are much appreciated over the life of the car.
